The Revenue Department (RD) joins hands with Thanachart Financial Group to pursue a project “Bicycles for Thai local youth, a worthwhile cooperation to promote education with the Revenue Department” in order to provide education opportunities to Thai local students. The collaboration pilot project began for the first time with the delivery of bicycles at Ban Mae Ngood School, Hod District, Chiang Mai.

The project has a purpose to assist students in local schools who have difficulty in traveling due to the long distance. It provides an excellent opportunity for the private sector to support the project by making donations to buy 50 new bicycles to each of the 80 elementary and secondary school in the distant areas. Each school will provide the bicycles to students for use during the school term.

Mr. Sirote Swasdipanich, Director-General of the Revenue Department, said “After the Revenue Department became the driving force in implementing the project “Bicycles for Thai local youth, a worth while cooperation to promote education with the Revenue Department” since November 2005 in order to supply bicycles to 80 schools throughout the country, we have received good cooperation from Thanachart group who is the first private company group to provide donations in order to supply bicycles to Ban Mae Ngnood School, Hod District, Chiang Mai, for the first time.

“Those who make donations under this project will be entitled to tax benefits according to our tax measure “Give 1, Get 2”. Expenses from donation may deducted for tax purposes at twice the amount. I believe that our special tax measure will be an incentive for the private sector to support education and develop the society together. This is a worthy investment because the donators not only will gain merit and develop society by building an important education base for the country, they will also receive immediate expense deductions for tax purposes.”

Mr. Udom Chaithep, Director of Thanachart Bank Co. (Public Company) Chiang Mai branch, revealed “The Thanachart Group feels honored and proud to support a project for social community”. Not only the Thanachart group carries on business of hire purchasing vehicles, banking, securities, fund administration, and insurance, it also continuously supports social development, especially in providing education to Thai youth which has always been the main mission of our group.

“The Thanachart Group is committed and intends to make Ban Mae Ngood School, Chiang Mai, our pilot project in order to encourage everyone to seriously help support and develop education for Thai children in the local areas. We plan to deliver bicycles to schools in various local areas, no matter where they are located throughout the country”.
