Subject        : The Revenue Department develops Web accessibility to provide equal access and equal opportunities to people with disabilities

                        The Revenue Department (RD) becomes one of the first government agencies in Thailand to make its web site www.rd.go.th accessible to everyone including disabled people by following guidelines of W3C and conforming to AAA level.

                         Mr. Sanit Rangnoi, Director-General of RD, revealed “RD has further expanded its e-services through the web site by introducing ‘Web accessibility’.  The aim is to provide equal access to everyone including people with disabilities such as visual, hearing or mobility impairment.  The development and design follow the Web accessibility guidelines of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) which is the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web (W3). RD is one of the first government agencies in Thailand to conform to Triple A or AAA level.”

                         Mr. Sanit added “The Web accessibility initiative provides fast and convenient services to disabled users as well as improves RD’s image on social responsibility.  At this stage, RD has implemented Web accessibility for the web pages on “The Revenue Code”, “Tax Knowledge” and “About the Revenue Department”.  In the future the initiative will be expanded to cover other useful web contents for this user target.”
