Date             :  25 June 2007

Subject        : The Revenue Department shares information with 3 special agencies to help fight crimes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Revenue Department (RD) increases efficiency of Office of Narcotics Control Board, Anti-Money Laundering Office and Department of Special Investigation by providing on-line information sharing on tax returns. The 3 offices are empowered by special laws to request information from RD. RD implements data confidentiality and security measures using Digital Signatures, Encryption/Decryption and PKI Smart Card Technology that has been upgraded to provide integrated service level. It may be said that RD is the first government agency in Thailand to provide such integrated service at this level.

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on Tax Record Searching Service via Internet due to take place today (25 June 2007) is another important chapter in joint cooperation among Thai government agencies to enhance work efficiency resulting in mutual benefits to all sides.

Mr. Sanit Rangnoi, Director-General of RD, said, “All 3 agencies can directly request on-line tax information which will expedite and streamline work processes. Furthermore, the system supports the government’s mission to maintain national security, life and property safety, and peace of the public as well as to protect the national interests in applying the provisions of the laws for these special agencies.”
