Subject        : Cooperation between the Revenue Department and Krung Thai Credit Card Public Limited Company on tax payment through credit card

                          Today (22 May 2007), there is Signing Ceremony between the Revenue Department and Krung Thai Credit Card Public Limited Company on their cooperation on tax payment through credit card. Taxpayers will be able to pay every types of tax by using credit card starting from 1 June 2007.

                         Mr. Satit Rungkasiri, Deputy Director-General and spokesperson of the Revenue Department said, “SMEs have a tendency to use cash in their transactions.  Therefore, a tax administration needs to have effective risk assessment and management approach or this taxpayer group.  Other factors should also be taken into account such as the activities of the business, the economic situation, technological innovations and data analysis in order to determine the appropriate compliance and tax collection strategies.  All officials agree that punishment may not always be the most effective tool.  We need to assist taxpayers to comply with the laws.  Therefore, the provisions of the law should be clear.  We must also provide good services with simple forms, e-services including filing and registration and access to existing rulings.”

                         Mr. Pongsak Sarutipakorn, Vice President of business line of Krung Thai Credit Card Public Limited Company said that, “KTC is very glad to be the first service provider in Thailand that provides credit card service for tax payment. This service provides a convenient alternative for tax payment. 1.42 million card holders will still enjoy the benefit of point reward in which 1 point will be earned for every 25 Baht spending. The service charge is only 2% (VAT included) on the amount paid. It is hoped that the new service will respond to the need of our clients and we will continuously look for new services that will benefit our clients.”
