Subject : Deputy Finance Minister advises the Revenue Department to set up tax service center for SMEs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today (15 May 2008) Mr. Pradit Phattharaprasit, Deputy Finance Minister, and his team visited the Revenue Department (RD) to give the policy on the Departments administration for the second time in the fiscal year. Mr. Sanit Rangnoi, Director-General of the Revenue Department and his executives welcomed the team and presented a brief summary of the operation of RD and its direction according to strategic plan on tax collection for the rest of the fiscal year 2008 (May September 2008) to achieve the target. The event was held at meeting room 1, the Revenue Department building. The Deputy Minister said, The Ministry takes this opportunity to give policy to RD under its responsibility on the administration in order to have a clearer direction for the organization. The performance of the RD in the past 7 months (October 2007 April 2008) shows that RD can collect tax exceeding its target by 17,300 million baht which is satisfactory. As for the rest 5 months (May 2008 September 2008), RD should keep up its good work in order to have a stable budget and contribute to a strong economy. The current tax package may cause revenue loss for awhile but in the long run these measures will raise revenue from other taxes such as VAT, and corporate income tax. Moreover, the Ministry supports RD to promote SMEs by encouraging RD to provide SMEs tax incentives information on the internet for businesses, citizens, and officers, as well as set up tax service center for SMEs by June 2008 which will raise the capability of RD and its success in tax collection in the future. |
